Aiding campers into a time of a major life change

As a camp counselor for Camp Dost at Camp Victory, I was responsible for watching, assisting, and educating campers during their time at Camp Dost. The campers I watched were going through complex changes in their life or their siblings’ lives, and the change was being diagnosed with cancer at a young age. I took it upon myself to support and educate them about my experience with cancer and how to connect with other campers who are going through the same thing. This ensured that the campers would enjoy their time and make new friends going through the same experience. This shows I'm empathic to people going through a difficult time in their lives.

Informing through different sources

As a previous camper and as a Red Cross Club member, I was able to help inform and educate people on why donating blood and why Camp Dost is important. I was interviewed on the news to help inform and educate people on essential topics for both causes. I took it upon myself to share my story on my experience with both topics to connect with the audience and show how important it is to everyone, including kids going through chemotherapy. This shows I have interpersonal communication skills that can be shown through media, in person, or any source.

Completion of tasks without Supervision

As an intern at Transitions of PA, I was given tasks to complete promptly and without errors. During a week, my supervisor was going in and out of the office, and during the time of her absence, she gave tasks for me to complete that would take some time while she was out of the office. The tasks were completed by the time the office day ended, and my supervisor found no errors within the tasks I was given to complete. This shows I can complete tasks without a supervisor in a timely manner and without errors.
